The role of a sponsor is one of a spiritual friend, of support and care. You need to be able to communicate on a regular basis and therefore if you already know a Catholic (who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation), it may be a work colleague, a family member, or a friend.If you don’t not know a Catholic who may be suitable, your parish can introduce you to some of the parishioners who would be glad to fulfil this role.
