RCIA is beneficial for the entire parish community and it is an activity, which can mobilise everyone within the parish.

  • Catechists
  • Sponsors
  • Prayer Teams
  • Hospitality Teams
  • People who assist with the Liturgy

Part of our Baptismal responsibility as Catholics is to evangelise.  Christ was speaking to us when he said “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age”  (Matthew 28:18-20)

How many people would be needed?

Ideally the entire parish would get behind RCIA in one way or another- but a minimum requirement would be catechist/priest and sponsors.

What kind of people need to be involved?

The type of people that are invaluable to a parish RCIA are those who love their faith (the Church and their parish) and who love people.

We need people who are willing to share themselves - their faith with others.

Some questions to consider:

What are the strengths of my parish?
What are the areas either liturgically, catechetically or pastorally that we would need to work on?
What resources are available?
Who could we approach to take on some RCIA responsibility?
Could we organise some parish training for catechists and sponsors?
